4th of July 2009

It has been quite sometime since I last logged into my blog. The reason I decided to start at this again is for one amazing experience that occured. My old friend from middle school found me online through my blog! He emailed me and it has been nothing but joy from that moment. It was so nice to know what he has been up to and how his life has turned out. This guy was my best friend. He had my back and looked out for me always. That I will carry with me throughout my life. So this is what has brought me back to the old drawing board of daily writings in this day in time online that is.

So it is the 4th of July tomorrow. The family and I lit fireworks tonight and had fun together as usual. Sparks flew and all that jazz. Tomorrow night will be the finale's over at some friends house across the way. I just love to see the excitement on the boys faces as the lights glare and the sparkles turn into loud pops.

I hope all of you enjoy your holiday as I am currently doing. Nothing better than doing it with all my family together. Matt recently just got back from Afghanistan a couple of months ago. He has been a sight for sore eyes. We have enjoyed him home every moment of each day and night.

Happy 4th to all my friends and family out there!!!

Pruning...

As good soil is the key to a great garden, so is good parenting to a great childhood. If you think it is easy, your wrong. It is time to get serious for the future of my little men. It begins in the home. If there's love at home, there's a foundation to work with. Then the parenting steps in. Separate your children from each other for they are an individual and not a bundle. Make contact with his soul and understand one another. Grasp the importance of reasoning, responsibility, morals, education, loving, faith, kindness, selflessness, and honesty. Develop a relationship with one another that stands firm amongst each other. Stay close, for this world can get ugly at times.

Easter Hunt

What a wacky wild and colorful day to say the least. Easter is so fun! The boys climbed the rock wall, rode the rides, colored their backpacks, cake walk, entered the smoke house, hunted for eggs, etc. It was an exciting day for my little ones.

The day started out crazy though. Our chihuahua got attacked by our neighborhood stray dog. This is our 2nd dog that got attacked by her. I guess this is what happens in the country!

Tonight we will color eggs for the holiday. I am looking forward to sitting around the table with the kids and having fun. My children are so funny to be around. They are active as well so that is a hoot along with the humor!.

This is also my "official" day to stop breastfeeding Stryker. My baby boy is growing up too fast. Matt and I might have another one soon. We will take it one day at a time. We absolutely love babies but also want to camp, fish, hike, and those sorts of activities that are hard to do with babies. We are so HOT for each other we might end up with 10 kids in the end!

Time for me to do some other things. Off to my kiddos I go! Be back later.

Ice Cream Party!

Tonight the boys and I had an ice cream party! It was wet and wild! Not to mention Hunter had a squirt bottle filled with water and it ended up on all of our faces!

I also sat down with Mason and studied some of his pre-test for the up coming Oklahoma state tests next week. I think he needed the one on one time with me. I thought back when I was a kid and remembered when my mom used to help me. She was always there for me when I had a problem. I remember having those sick days and her letting me stay home. We would sit on the couch together and laugh at the t.v. shows. She would always tell me that I was smarter than I thought. I knew I was, I just wanted things to happen quickly instead of with patience.

As Mason and I finished our session; He said, "thanks mom". Right then I knew what I had done in those small hours had helped him with his confidence and education. These are the joyous moments in my life.

For the last year I have turned the television off. I don't think I have watched one movie all the way through besides Twilight of course. I turn on the news once in awhile. I've lost interest I guess. The kids need me more so that is where my priorities are anyways. It's also nice to be out of the world so to speak.

Matt is calling so I better get to him. Soon he will arrive home safe in our arms. That will be a moment of joy! I want him out of Afghanistan!

Monday Morning

It's Monday morning here in the Decker household. I'm wishing we lived closer to family. It seems our family is just too far away. I was cleaning out the boys rooms and found some old pictures of everybody. The times have sure changed and quickly at that. I also checked some out of myself and I can honestly say, I DO NOT LOOK THE SAME!!!! Now quit laughing at once! Ha! I'm laughing myself!

It is far too often that I do not take the time for myself . I tend to care for others before myself. There is nothing wrong with that. I just need to be healthy for myself so that I can live longer for them. I only wish I had the dedication to do what I really want to do. I suppose it is all in what you want out of life. That is what my dad used to say.

I come up with excuses all the time. The house needs cleaning, my feet hurt, it's boring, and on and on again. Where's the faith?

I hope I can gain the strength I need to loose this dreadful weight. It has changed me in many different ways. I have an awesome husband that loves me any shape or form which is great. I just want to be better for myself and for my family. I want to also be an example for them.

Planting seeds one by one...

Tonight Hunter and I sat around the kitchen table and planted cantaloupe, spinach, cilantro, and basil seeds. We had a great time. Hunter loved telling me that each and every one was his and not mine to do. Kids are so humerous!

As we were planting all the seeds my mind began to wonder. I thought back about something I used to teach to others. That is, to have FAITH the size of a mustard seed. I can say I do have that. There are times in life when we struggle to find answers. I already know the answer pertaining to God himself. My trials come in other areas. Many people in our times will fall away from God and from the church. It will be a trial for those that stand firm with their faith. These are the times that those need to have open arms. These are also the times that friendships need to be based upon the spirit and not that of false encounters. I struggle every single day but I do know that God lives and loves each and every one of us. I also know that children are a delight in my life. Hunter and I had a great time tonight getting our hands in the dirt. Far too often people do not take the time to do that. You can see what it did for me. I hope my son felt the spirit as well. It was nice to see him enjoy in life's precious moments...
